Rylie Yates is 15 years old, originally from LaPorte TX having moved to Mt. Belvieu in 2018. She is a sophomore at Barbers Hill High School and maintains an A/B average. Rylie has participated in several sports/activities and has finally found her passion, Mini Sprint Car Racing. She started attending races in 2017 with her father and that is where it all began. Rylie has just completed her Rookie year and is about to journey into HER 2ND year of racing.
In her Rookie year of racing her goal was to be named Rookie of the Year, which she achieved! Rylie races with the POWRi Align Pro Lonestar 600’s presented by No Limit Graphics in the Restrictor class, which in 2019 had 27 drivers. Rylie not only accomplished her goal of Rookie of the Year she also was the track champion at Gulf Coast Speedway in Alvin Texas, our home track, and finished the year 2nd in the points standing! Rylie’s year of chasing the checkered flag consisted of 21 races of which she had 12 top 10 finishes, 9 top 5 finishes and 3 Wins!
Rylie worked hard on her grades, her car as well as herself and continues to amaze all who have chosen to follow her along on her journey. Rylie competed in the Tulsa Shootout Jan 1st thru Jan 4th 2020. Although she didn’t make it to the feature she did her best and will definitely return for another chance next year. She has learned a lot and continues to strive and will chase the checkered flag in the 2020 season as she travels across Texas.
