Fezard Held Back by Saturday Crash

Fezard Held Back by Saturday Crash

OKLAHOMA CITY – Trekking to a race track he had never visited before, Bradley Fezard had no idea what to expect when arriving at I-44 Riverside Speedway in Oklahoma City on Friday. After one night of racing and a top-ten under his belt there that night, he was feeling confident about the second night of racing on Saturday. Unfortunately, a crash early in preliminary action consigned the Bonnerdale, Ark. resident to B-main action that he’d be unable to escape from.

Friday started off with a huge turnout for A-Class, with 44 micro sprints signed in for competition in that class, as well as 28 entered for the outlaw division. Strong efforts in heat race action for Fezard earned him great starting positions for the feature events; a win in both the A-Class and outlaw heats put him starting third and seventh in the main events, respectively.

From inside row two in A-Class, Fezard found in the early going that his machine was far too tight for the track conditions. Looking for a top-four finish to lock into the Saturday night big show, he soon saw that fall from his grasp. Over the course of the 20-lap event, Fezard fell to seventh. In the outlaw feature, Fezard would mainly be racing against cars with stronger engines, but would still bring the No. 58 Stallard to the checkered with a respectable 11th-place finish.

Hoping to start Saturday as strong as Friday, Fezard’s A-Class heat race all but sank those hopes. While battling for position in that event, the race turned dreadful when heavy contact resulted in his car suffering damage from bumper to bumper, and a DNF. Fezard had to involuntarily skip his outlaw heat while going to work getting his Stallard Chassis back into raceable condition. With a new front axle and front shocks among other new parts adorning the car, Fezard charged through the A-Class B-main after starting 15th and a subsequent spinout that returned him to the tail. Through the adversity, he took seventh, albeit missing the top-four transfer positions. With one more shot to make a feature, Fezard hoped to muscle his way into the night’s crown jewel, the 30-lap outlaw main event. Starting seventh, he was trundled backward several positions on the start, again clawing his way back forward but missing the transfer with another seventh-place result.

Fezard would like to thank Brandon’s Ranch and Aaron’s Powdercoating, as well as his mom and dad, Frank Galusha at Eagle Motorsports Inc, Justin Lovins with ML Amsoil, and his great fans for their continued support.

Fezard is next scheduled to compete on June 18-20 for the “Highbanks Hustle” at Southern Illinois Raceway in Marion, Ill. in the #58 600cc micro sprint entry.
